we're tumbling down, we're spiralling

Well, things here are their usual Ex-infested nightmare - issues are still all encompassing and everyone here is quite down about the current situation as we descend further into the spiral of our "give" and her "take". With solicitors involved, I think I may take the Num Num's advice and desist from sharing the gory details for the time being.

I wish I had more faith in the legal system, I really do. I am 100% convinced it isn't going to help a dad, a grandmother and a loving Hen in this scenario, and that makes me extremely sad.

Last night we attempted to escape the bleak reality by bumbling down to the Kentish Town Forum to see Keane's first UK live show in over a year. Supported by the dreadful Mystery Jets (no, you don't get a link as I thought you were bobbins), the Sussex three-piece (well, four with the addition of bassist Jesse Quin) were debuting material from their forthcoming third album Perfect Symmetry.

Those who have heard Spiralling will know that there in an infusion of 80s-ness in this new material, but more interesting is the much bigger sound they have created, enhanced by not only a bass guitar but by Chaplin himself playing lead on much of the new material.

From the superb opening song The Lovers Are Losing, through most of the "old" favourites (yes, they did do Everybody's Changing and Somewhere Only We Know and This Is The Last Time) to a chunk of the excellent sounding new album (the song Perfect Symmetry sounds really strong, on first listen) a grand time was had by all. Bedshaped no longer the finale to the show, mind - the honour now goes to the beautiful new ballad Love Is The End.

Critics seem to be impressed with Perfect Symmetry, which is nice - from what I have heard it sounds pretty good to me too. It's out on 13th October.
