saturday night at the movies
I've been to the cinema so much lately that I am way behind with my reviews. So, in the unlikely event that you base your viewing pleasure on what I have to say, here's the films from the last few weeks split into handy categories....
The best film of the year so far
The Adventures of Tin Tin: The Secret of the Unicorn (the film Indiana Jones 4 should have been. Fast, funny, brilliantly made and totally engrossing. Loved it)
Surprisingly entertaining
Real Steel (Loved this. Rocky for the 21st century)
Red State (pacy, funny and brilliantly made. Superb)
Midnight in Paris (Woody Allen's best film for years)
Drive
Crazy, Stupid Love (one of my favourite films of the year so far)
Films that are beautifully made, fantastically acted and brilliantly directed but are ultimately quite dull
We Need To Talk About Kevin
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Contagion
Will kill a couple of hours if you're doing nowt else
Dolphin Tale
The Debt
Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (mainly for seeing Katie Holmes back on screen)
Might be genius or absolute toss - it's hard to say
Melancholia
Probably don't bother unless you have a very good reason
Johnny English Reborn
Abduction (even if you're a huge Taylor Lautner fan (which I am) you may still want to give this a miss)
30: Minutes Or Less (Danny McBride is *by far* the biggest nob working in cinema right now. Avoid)
There you go. If you have time for three films, go see Real Steel, Tin Tin and Crazy, Stupid Love.
Over and out.

inspired by the fact that I quoted your micro review of the film to you as we were in the pub, I actually went to see Tintin on Saturday.
AMAZING.
The cinema was full of kids, but it was a blast from start to finish. Largely pointless 3-D, which is prone to too many lurches for this little brain to take in, but the film itself is a joy.
Thanks for the recommendation, guru!
